"A dream does not become a reality through magic, it takes sweat, determination and hard work"-Colin Powell
From the day we are born, we have been subconsiously programmed to strive for purpose and fulfillment in life.Be it a Fighter Pilot, Doctor, Accountant, Professional athlete, Teacher. There is always that one dream job that everyone aspires to become but never seem to reach it.What does it take to make a success out of your life?

Doing things when you don't have to do them, is what will greatly determine if you achieve success in life or not. Waking up an hour earlier to excercise, read , meditate. Consistency in these actions over long periods of time without needing validation or physical rewards will help you progress towards sucess. The flaw I found in our education system is that we teach our kids that "If you do this , you will get that" This mindset will not stimulate kids to achieve their full potential. This only teaches the kid to do his homework , then he goes and watches tv for the rest of the day. This is a worker mindset, not a creator mindset. The kid should be encouraged and passionate about spending his time on doing things which will help his future.Unfortunately video games, television renders the kids ability to promote his cognitive abilites. Some video games might stimulate some strategy development skills but only to a certain extent.

Stop being lazy.People often forget that we all have equal wealth, in terms of TIME.Time can be the best commodity to trade with. You can trade time to read books, do research or improve health with excercise. If you finish work at 17:00 get home by 18:00, and say you go to bed at 10PM and wake up at 6-7AM.That leaves you with 5-6 hours each day that you can decide what you want to do with it.Each person's schedule differs but there is ALWAYS free time , and it is what you do with this precious time what will seperate you from the rest.In one week, that is 25-30 hours. In a year, that is 6250-7500 HOURS (Only counting work days, 250).

There is a simple principle that most people know, which is the 10 000 hour rule.Spending 10 000 hours on a specific hobby, interest or job will make you proficient in that job. With this valueable information at mind, what will you do with it ? Do you decide to watch tv and play games after work or do you read books about building robots?Do extensive research about how do stocks work?It doesnt matter , as long as you consistently use the time and invest it into something that will matter in 5 years time.( If it does not matter in 5 years , do not spend 5 minutes on it)Success comes with HIGH SELF DISCLIPLINE.

'But how do I become proficient in something if there is so much to do and it is so difficult'?The trick is to just start.Start planning your day, start writing notes down.Just go sit and stare at the task at hand for 5-10 minutes, you will atleast get something done or gain some sort of information. If you are struggling after the 10 minutes , try again tomorrow. Its all about getting the ball rolling. This creates a snowball effect and before you know it , you start to understand what you are doing.

Most people stop using their free time after getting their degree and become stagnant.Yes, your degree might give you a high paying job.But having a high paying job will not grant you fulfillment and purpose. The ultimate goal is to have unlimited time and unlimited money to spend as much time on what gives you purpose. The only way to achieving it is investing your time into whatever YOU want to do.You should not expect immediate returns, and if you do , you should re-invest any gains back into your profession for as long as possible. You should always have a short, medium and long term plan.

Failure is going to be inevitable. No matter how many books you have read, how many step-by-step instructions you followed. The real world is ever changing and requires you to make informed decisions based on previous experiences. The more you fail, the odds of success increases per failure.
Good luck on pursuing your dream!
