How to improve the security of your Bitcoin.

8 Bitcoin Security Tips

Bitcoin is one of the latest tech advancements that we have in the 21st century. This technology has revolutionized the business operations and how we can make payments. In just a matter of seconds, it is possible to process payments securely.

Talking of security, how secure do you think Bitcoin is? Well, it is quite secure if you keep security a priority. Many cases have been reported of people losing their Bitcoin, suffering huge losses, just for not observing some basic security tips.

If you don’t want to be part of the statistics of people who lose Bitcoin, you should observe the following security tips:

1.      Use a reliable exchange service

Web hackers are always on constant attempts to gain access to people’s e-wallets. If you are using an exchange service, you need to be aware that you are already exposed to web hackers. However, you don’t have to worry about this if you have chosen reliable exchange services for they will provide an extra security layer to keep your coins safe.

2.      Restrict access to your wallet

Your e-wallet is the first security gate that you need to protect. You should not allow open access to your wallet. If you are an employer, don’t give your employees open access to your wallet when making transactions on your behalf.

As a tip, we advise that you use sub-wallets.

3.      Use separate wallets

One of the best ways to keep your money safe is by using different wallets. If you have an online wallet, you should consider supplementing it with an offline wallet. If you get a big online payment, just transfer the money to your offline wallet as a way of keeping your money safe.

4.      Store your keys offline

You should not store your security keys online as it gives hackers an opportunity to identify their location and steal them. The best thing to do is to store them offline, using a secure system.

5.      Use dedicated hardware

When you are transferring data from one computer to another, it is recommended that you use a dedicated USB key to improve the security and reduce chances of exposing your data to potential viruses or hackers.

6.      Create backups

It is important to create backups for your wallet if you don’t want to lose your Bitcoin in case your computer is damaged. Even with the backups, it is recommended that you make several, stored in different locations.

7.      Use Linux for extra security

Linux is the most secure system for moving data between two computers using a USB drive. The system is extremely good at eliminating the chances of USB-based threats.

8.      Use a powerful hardware

Don’t trust the security of your Bitcoin with inferior hardware. It is the hardware that helps in keeping your security keys safe. Don’t compromise when it comes to the hardware you are using.

As a tip, you should opt for specialized hardware for handling digital currency.

With these tips put into practice, you can be sure that you will improve the security of your Bitcoin.
