Attitude towards animals is a mirror of the human soul, a touchstone of the value of the human person. The moral level of a person is determined not so much by his attitude to another person, but rather towards an animal. Why? Yes, because a person treats himself like himself often in the way that suits him, and always treats the animal as he really is.
From ancient antiquity, a proverb has come to us, saying that a person is recognized by his attitude to slaves and cattle (i.e., to disenfranchised and defenseless).
