Most times, most Christians, whenever they hear the word ‘Sex’ their mind is narrowed to sin – fornication or adultery.
Note this! Sex is not fornication neither is it adultery or any form of immorality. Why I do say so? It is because every good and perfect gift comes from God – the Father (James 1:17).
Sex was created by God and God cannot be the Father of sin – fornication and adultery because there is no evil in God.
What says the Bible?
The Bible never plainly defined sex as the dictionary defines it but there are outstanding phrases the bible uses to pronounce Sex.
Now let us list them out;
1)“knew his wife” (Gen 4:1,17,25)(1 Sam 1:19)
2)“Lay with” ( Deut 22:28,29)
Now let us explain these two subsequently.
The first is”knew“.
This explains that knowledge about Sex is vital. Only those who know the meaning and purpose of Sex are permitted to enjoy it benefits. Knowing the reason God initiated Sex is important. When you have knowledge of the reasons and use of Sex it’s abuse becomes evitable. A wise man said if the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable.
Lay with;
The word lay is associated with “putting in place”. it is associated with foundation and establishment. So sex is foundational. it is what gives renewal to the covenant between husband and wife. Sex is “laid with” a Covenant.
Premarital Sex, Fornication (Sexual Immorality).
Premarital Sex is Sex outside wedlock. Fornication is that which satan has to offer as a substitute for Sex which God ordained from the time He thought of creating Man.
What makes Sexual Immorality sin.
Here we are going to discuss the secrets behind Sex and what makes premarital so bad.
God is a covenant keeping God. For every covenant there is a symbol,a sign. For every agreement there must be a room for signature. For example in Genesis 9:12,13 God enacted a covenant between Himself, man and the earth. The symbol of that covenant is the rainbow. Likewise our new covenant with Christ has a symbol which is His blood (Zech 9:11).
Sex is the sign of covenant of marriage. It is the symbol of the covenant between two parties of opposite Sex. So whenever God sees Sex He expects that there is already a covenant. This is what makes premarital Sex sinful. Imagine I have a signed document testifying to the purchase of a property but that property does not exist. What would be your thought? Its simple, I have been conned, the document is fake and falsified. So also is Sex (sign) without the covenant (marriage). Premarital Sex is a faked and falsified covenant before God. Everything faked is a lie and all liars are sinners.
Effect of Sex
Man is triune in nature , he is a spirit, he has a soul and lives in a body. Sex has 3 kinds of effect on Man; Physically, mentally and Spiritually.
The body- Physically.
God uses Sex as a medium for creating containers (body) for the men He plans to raise on earth. With Sex, reproduction can be guaranteed, God need human vessels to carry out His nature, He needs them to work here on earth. The world wants to see God but God can’t be seen in His true form because God is a Spirit. Therefore God needs human vessels to reveal Himself to the world and the way to achieve that is via reproduction which is initiated by Sex.
The soul- Mentally.
in so much that God need more human vessels, He made Sex pleasurable to the mind so that man won’t find it tiring.
Spirit – Spiritually
Sex is more spiritual than it is physical or mental. Jesus said in;
Matthew 19:5-6
[5]And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
[6]Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Two bodies can’t be one, two souls can’t become one but two spirit can be one. Take for example everyone born of God has one Spirit – the Holy Spirit. (1cor 6:17/ 12:13).
Sex locks spirit together and make them one. No wonder Paul warns and and let’s us know that light and darkness shouldn’t have relationships because positive and negative can’t be fused together.
The secrets of Sex is deeper than we can imagine. But God will reveal it to us according to 1 Cor 2:10
